January, 2007
Aloha Hawaii Gourd Society members, friends, and supporters!
We are planning a Gourd Gathering
on Jan. 27th, 11-2, at the new HGS headquarters in
Holualoa.
Look for us at 76-5902 Mamalahoa
Hwy (Aloha Sweets & Treats) , directly makai of
the HoluaKoa Cafe'.
Bring something to transport ipu
kekis home to your garden in...
Please bring something for a pot-luck lunch...oh yes, .and, something to sit
on...chair, stool, cooler.
This will be an organizational
meeting to assist us in preparing for our Gourds in
Paradise Festival. Please plan to attend and give us
your input. We will also begin getting our classes
filled for the festival, as we have some of the very
best Gourd Artists in the world coming to join us,
support our society, and teach classes.
Response from the mainland has
been terrific for our upcoming Festival...B&B owners,
if you have rooms available for the festival weekend,
let me know right away.
A special web site has been set
up for us www.ipushow.com ...if
you want to add any type of pertinent information to
that site, bring it to the meeting or e-mail me anytime.
We will get it posted for you.
We are planning a trip to the
Bishop Museum, Oahu (as the HGS group) for June 18th
or 19th. More on exact date later, but we do need to
know if you are interested in joining that special
tour.
Please be sure to renew your membership
with the American Gourd Society for 2007...the membership
includes the wonderful Gourd Magazine, published quarterly.
Go to www.ags.com to
renew. Our own, Hawaii Gourd Society membership renewal
is not until June 1st. We will be having a membership
drive at our Festival.
We hope to see you on Jan. 27th
and look forward to a really fun and constructive Ipu
day!
Be well and remember to hug your
ipu today!
Mary
HGS President
